Leave the detox in January and get back to enjoying life, food and entertaining in style! Re-chox and get a perky caffeine fix with the delicious Chocolate Espresso Mousse recipe from French & Grace in Brixton Village. Taken from their cook book Kitchen & Co we have extracted a truly tempting dessert for you pleasure, along with your chance to win a signed cook book for yourselves, full of tasty, hearty and reasonable easy to prepare dishes and delights.


Enough for 8 Espresso sized cups (see image)

  • 1 double espresso
  • 200g good quality dark chocolate (plus extra to serve)
  • 3 free range egg whites
  • Drop of lemon Juice
  • 250ml double cream
  • 1 Free range egg yolk

Make a strong double espresso and leave it to cool. Break the chocolate into pieces and melt gently in a heat-proof bowl over a pan of simmering water (making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water).

Put the egg whites in a large bowl with a drop of lemon juice and whisk until stiff peak form, gradually adding the sugar as you go. In another bowl (sorry, about the washing up) lightly whip the cream until it forms gentle mounds – you don’t want it to be too thick.

Once the chocolate has melted stir in the coffee and let it cool before stirring in the egg yolk. Gently fold in the cream and finally the egg whites with a mental spoon.

Refrigerate for 30 minutes and serve with shavings of dark chocolate.
