Adam Byatt’s Trinity restaurant in Clapham Old Town delivers a slick, intelligent and unpretentious option for dining out in Clapham. This really is one smooth operation that offers diners a relaxed and comfortable space to savour the flavours.

Trinity is no new kid on the Clapham Old Town block, this well rooted restaurant has been up and elegantly running for 6 years now. We are not surprised to see this establishment doing so well with its award wining formula, all-encompassing from the interesting dishes on the menu,  seamless service and quality of ingredients.


On arrival you are welcomed into a light, simple dining room with large windows by discreet and professional staff, one is seated and presented the menu which is considered and balanced with an array of dishes that will get guests talking and interacting with each other.  Water is offered ( in-house filtered and included in the cover charge…yes cover charge!?!) a canapé/ amuse bouche is proffered to get your taste buds dancing.  Staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu and dishes if assistance is required making your choices. This feels like a grown up, food lovers option for entertaining, the food speaks for itself.

The Food: To make things as interesting as possible I opted for the pigs trotter starter which actually is less intimidating than it sounds, the trotter is served diced on sour dough with quails eggs and crackling. The plate is quite rich but beautifully presented and worth the punt on an unusual dish. Next I went for another wild card option (at least for me anyway) a tender and succulent Dexter Sirloin steak with Dorset Snail Persillade. The steak was beautiful and the snail was well… Snail. Can’t say that I will be having it again anytime soon but certainly pleased that I tried it and I tried it at Trinity. Dessert was heaven in the form of Black Forest….intense deep berry against chocolate in various consistencies and sweetness’. Overall it was a pleasure from door to door. We also suggest starting the meal with their seasonal Bellini – whatever it may be – ours was Cranberry.

Guest Entertaining: Absolutely. This is a professional, well executed service. If you take someone to Trinity I could only imagine it would reflect well on you. The menu and food offer a great talking point to help with easy interactions with clients, new friends or family. Generous portions for a restaurant this calibre, it’s definitely somewhere you leave feeling satisfied, content and inspired. Along with options for entertaining either in the main restaurant area and then the private dining/ chefs table that has a window to the kitchen and can be separated from  the main area with a curtain or not should you want to feel the ambience of the rest of the restaurant.

Pretty sure their Michelin star which must be lost in the post. This a very reasonably priced top end restaurant offering an a la carte menu, 5 or 7 course tasting menu and a very fairly priced Sunday lunch menu. If like most of us and now especially after Christmas money is a little tight ( and so are our belts) then we suggest opting  for the daily lunch menu (not on Monday) or the traditional Sunday lunch also  looks appetising with 3 courses for £35. Expect to pay from £100 per head with tasting menu and wine pairing.

We say Amen and thank you to Trinity.  Something local with an intriguing menu, slick service and attention detail without having the pretentions of a central London high end restaurant.
